In honor of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s gorgeous and non-traditional couture collection for Christian Dior that debuted today, I pulled out this glistening black number.

Chiuri found herself traveling all over the globe showing collections, attending events, and getting inspired. There is no question as to why she chose the traveling, working woman as inspiration.

This collection is on the untraditional side because it’s not the image that comes to mind when you hear “couture”. She showed graceful ankle-length trench coats made of wool. Heavily layered dresses accessorized with hats had a slow swing due to their heavy material. However, she did stick to Dior’s power woman stature. Each piece symbolized the independent working woman who can do both serious and elegant.

Though these looks are meant for the fall red carpets, this silky Marni number from Mercy Vintage is perfect for interpreting the trend right now.

Light-weight materials with metal embellishments are perfect for summer. Its the perfect mix of girly and edgy. This slip-on dress allows you to get out of the house quickly and can turn from day to night by switching your shoes.

These glittery J/Slides add a playful and carefree look. If I switch these to patent leather, heeled booties, it will be a different story.
