Tickled Pink

In the mid-season between the talk of summer and fall fashion, I like to take risks when buying new pieces. Since fall shows are right around the corner, trends tend to go up in the air. People are watching the streets for new, emerging style choices. These out of the box choices tend to be influencers for the new fall collections.

This bubble gum pink top I bought at Zara is a stretch for me. Ruffles were never my favorite decoration, and pink is definitely not a color I pull out of my closet. I am having a surprising change of heart. Proenza Schouler’s couture show, Gucci’s overall love of color, and Chanel’s latest tribute to the beauty of feminine touches raised my curiosity.

I was always a bit afraid of these rolling pieces of fabric. When I got this order in the mail, my mind bursted with ideas. This bold top may not look like such a versatile piece, but you can make it into so many outfits. I would pair it with light wash denim, a red mini skirt, or anything black. I will even throw a leather jacket over my shoulders to give it some edge.

The black ruffled pants give this outfit the perfect amount of “over-the-top”. It’s both feminine and shocking. I am living for the shock factor in outfits these days. These can be dressed up or dressed down. A white t-shirt and denim jacket paired with these pants will definitely be my go-to during this college semester.

As we prepare for the “next-big-thing”, let loose with your style and try something new. I experienced a new design I was never drawn to before and ended up loving it.

Both the top and pants are from Zara.
