Capturing the extreme sun of August in a comfortable way is done by wearing earth tones. Black certainly does the trick, but that can be too intense. Tan and brown tones are just dark enough the keep you at a comfortable temperature and create an upscale day to night look.

This vintage Versace skirt that I got at Mercy Vintage in Oakland, CA combines the two tones perfectly. The lightweight fabric makes it breathable, and it looks so much more bold with the direct sunlight.

Everyone knows that white is the go to color to keep cool. This shirt from Forever 21 (shop similar here) works dressed up or down. The light fabric lets wind through.

Keep accessories light, minimal, and gold. Being weighed down by large necklaces or bags can A) make you warmer and B) take away the breezy, effortless look of the outfit. Save those for the fast-approaching fall season. This gold chain, triangle necklace guides the eye down the body so the outfit appears to flow.

An effortless summer look that can turn from going to the marketplace to attending a dinner party saves you time to do things you enjoy! Earth tones bring out your summer tan and compliment any hair, eye, or lipstick color.
