Here is a modern twist on a ’50-’60’s beach look:

Contrasting patterns are like eye-candy when it comes to outfits. It adds and eclectic and curious element to a look, and it leaves people staring (in a good way). There are some rules to follow when putting the ensemble together.

Capturing the extreme sun of August in a comfortable way is done by wearing earth tones. Black certainly does the trick, but that can be too intense. Tan and brown tones are just dark enough the keep you at a comfortable temperature and create an upscale day to night look.

Working in the fashion industry calls for you to have a staple. Grace Coddington has her gorgeous red hair, Anna Wintour’s black sunglasses will never be forgotten, and Danielle Bernstein’s minimalist yet intricate vibe is copied world wide. When I realized mine is a shoulder-padded blazer paired with sunnies, I couldn’t have been happier.

I spent the day at the beach with Derrick Russell to work on a special project. Connecting over Instagram, we learned that we were signed with the same modeling agency. The conversation carried on to our personal businesses; mine being the blog and his being his California apparel brand. When I learned the story behind Bridges and Beaches Supply Co. (BBSC), I would be doing an injustice to my fellow NorCal dwellers if I did not feature it on the blog.

I’ve been drawn to vintage/worn-in tie-dye tees lately. The best ones in Goodwill or in vintage shops are always the kid sizes. They have profound graphics and color. When I found this one, I was shopping for a styling job. I couldn’t say no.

I tend to find myself going through a common cycle. During winter and fall, I wear a ton of minimal black, grey, and white. A lot of duster coats, turtlenecks, and high waisted denim. When a hint of a summer breeze blows through, I slowly pull out my earth-toned, patterned pieces and start to latch on to the bohemian style. My baseball caps and ambassador brand t-shirts come out as hiking season begins. It’s completely night and day.

What comes to mind when you hear “Mediterranean footwear”? I think of vibrant color, pom-poms, sandals, and beach inspired. Hunting for new brands that have an innovative, signature product that they have pride in is one of my hobbies. Instagram brought me to Abanibi, a shoe brand that is defining the production of footwear.

With this off the shoulder trend now taking a back seat, I decided to give it one more go. When trends are at their time’s end, it is my favorite time to try and make them new. I had usually worn this top in particular with jeans or cropped flair pants.

Happy Saturday! I’ve been feeling adventurous and a bit cooped up because of midterms. A night out is definitely needed to get my mind off of school for just a second. Edgier fashion for clubbing has been in the scene from celebrities, Instagram models, and in major cities for quite some time. Clubbing involves dancing, of course, so you need mobility.
